Our Mission
Serving Our Kids Foundation is dedicated to feeding and serving the needs of Clark County homeless, at-risk, and food-insecure children by providing weekly, weekend meal bags to children who would otherwise go hungry when not in school. The Foundation relies on community organizations and volunteers to make this possible.
Our Purpose
Each weekend, Serving Our Kids feeds approximately 4,000 kids in grades Kindergarten thru 8th grade across 95+ schools who would otherwise go hungry. These children often leave school on Friday knowing they will have little to no food to eat through the weekend. Our mission fills that gap.
Our children don't understand complex federal eligibility guidelines or the fancy terminology used to designate their eligibility for food.
They just know they are hungry.
Approximately 92,000 children under the age of 18 in the Clark County meet the federal income-eligible definition of food insecure.
Food insecurity – lacking access to “enough healthy food to thrive” – In America , More than 9 million children faced hunger in 2021. That's 1 in 8 kids at risk for hunger.
Single-parent families are more likely to face hunger because they need to stretch their income further. In 2021, 24% of households headed by single-parents were food insecure.
There are programs to provide children in need with breakfast and lunch on weekdays. Weekends become a scary time for these children with limited to no access to food.
With increased help from you and the community, together we can take steps to end child hunger.
